Speaker
JOY MAST

Joy Mast photo 2018After coming through a difficult period in her life when she struggled to believe in God’s goodness and faithfulness, Joy Mast is now passionate about telling others how God can transform our lives with His power and love, even though we often miss Him because of our focus on the “seen world”. Joy was a missionary in Ireland and Spain and worked as a youth minister in the Washington, DC area before returning to her home state of North Carolina.  Joy now leads Releasity (“release-city”), a ministry that helps women who struggle with overeating by setting them free to go to God, rather than food, for comfort. With a background in comedy training and speech therapy, Joy’s messages are punctuated with humor and practical tips for connecting with God in our everyday lives. Her hope is to communicate God’s love and desire for His people in a winsome, down-to-earth and compelling way. To learn about her ministry before the retreat, visit her website at www.joymast.com.

Topic: “SET APART”
The Bible says that believers have been “set apart” to live a life of joy as we follow Jesus. If that’s the case, why do we sometimes find ourselves feeling irritable or critical toward friends or family, discontent from comparing ourselves to others, weighed down by fear, or having a need to run to earthly things for comfort rather than to our true God?  It’s tempting to believe that the cause of these struggles is the world’s influence, our external circumstances or difficult relationships.  However, James wrote that the battle is within us, and Paul warned that the Spirit within us is in conflict with our flesh. What are we to do if the problem itself lies within us?

Thankfully, God has given us instructions on how to live a life that is “set apart”, following His Spirit rather than falling victim to our flesh with its anger, anxiety, selfish motives, and lack of peace.  At Women’s Weekend Away 2018, you’ll learn how to experience the fruit that comes from living in the Spirit.  You’ll also gain new insight and practical tools for living a life that is “set apart”, and you’ll be refreshed from your time spent in nature with new and old friends. Join us as we learn how to live differently with more peace and joy so that you can return home and encourage others as well.
